Facelift Surgery
The face, neck and back of hands are the first areas to reveal age. Our face is the most important indicator of our age. Over time, volume loss, displacement and sagging occur due to gravity. These effects become particularly noticeable after the 30s. Facelift surgery reverses this process by intervening in all or part of the face. After surgery, your face gains a youthful appearance, though the aging process continues from a 5-10 year earlier point.
How is Facelift Surgery Performed?
Depending on the area needed, incisions are made in front of the ear, behind the ear and within the hairline. Excess tissue is removed, sagging structures are repositioned to their ideal location. Since incisions are hidden in the hairline and/or ear folds, they do not cause issues. Eyelid surgery, forehead lift, chin liposuction, tissue injections and facial contour modifications can be performed simultaneously or as separate procedures.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes 3-5 hours. Excessive bleeding is uncommon. Drains may be placed in rare cases for safety.
Recovery Process
The patient stays in the hospital for 1 day and is discharged after drain removal. Early swelling and bruising may occur. Creams started before surgery and regular ice application speed up recovery. Stitches are removed after one week and you can return to work. Heavy sports can be resumed after four weeks.
