Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

Individuals with reduced buttock volume or sagging due to gravity and aging but without excess skin, and young patients with naturally small buttocks, are suitable candidates for buttock augmentation and lift.

Fat tissue is harvested from the patient’s abdomen, flanks, hips or thighs using liposuction. The fat is processed and purified for re-injection. Fat is then injected into the upper buttock area to create a fuller and more contoured appearance. The lower back and waist are slimmed with liposuction, making the buttock contours more defined.

The survival of injected fat depends on local blood circulation. Some fat may be absorbed over time. To compensate, more fat is injected during surgery than the final desired volume.

Most absorption occurs within 6-12 weeks post-surgery. After this period, the remaining volume is expected to be permanent. Volume loss may require additional fat injections.

Recovery Process

Patients stay in the hospital for 1-2 days depending on the extent of surgery. Pain and swelling responsive to medication may occur in the first few days. Patients should avoid sleeping on their back and sitting directly on the buttocks for one week after surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are BBL results permanent?

60-80% of the injected fat survives. Results are permanent when weight is maintained. Weight changes can affect the outcome.

Do I need enough fat for BBL?

Yes, sufficient fat reserves in abdomen, flanks or thighs are needed for liposuction. For very thin patients, implant options are considered.
